The daily count of COVID-19 cases continues in the central region, with 106 more individuals testing positive for the virus on Tuesday.
Thanjavur district continued to report the maximum number of cases in eight central districts with 51 fresh cases. The number was also increasing in Tiruchi district as 17 individuals tested positive. There were 13 fresh cases in Nagapattinam and more than a dozen cases in Thiruvarur. Karur and Pudukottai reported half a dozen cases.
Ariyalur and Perambalur stood at the bottom in terms of the latest reporting and the latter was none.
According to the bulletin of the state health department, there were no deaths due to the virus in the region. As of Tuesday, there were 251 active cases under home treatment in Thanjavur district. 116 cases were reported in Tiruchi district, 101 in Thiruvarur, 72 in Nagapattinam, 32 in Pudukottai, 26 in Karur, eight in Perambalur and seven in Ariyalur.
