The Indian women attempted to bat brilliantly, but their bowling colleagues did not step in as the South African women won by six wickets in the last ball thriller in the second T20 International on Sunday. Shaifali Verma (47) hit six fours and two sixes in his 31-ball innings and shared a 79-run partnership with Harleen Deol (31), while Richa Ghosh smashed an unbeaten 44-run knock off 26 balls. Harleen also departed after being caught out at the hands of Ismail in the next over. Ghosh hit three fours, while Jemimah Rodrigues (16) hit a four, when India scored 18 off Sunil in the 14th over.
After Rodrigues departed, Ghosh crossed four more boundaries to lead India to a competitive score. For South Africa, Shabineem Ismail (1/31), Noncululeco Mlaba (1/27), Nadine de Kilak (1/28) and Anne Bosch (1/26) were among the wickets.
