Assam Assembly Election | PM Modi says that Atmanbir is the common symbol of India’s army

A few days after Lasht Borofukan was called a freedom fighter, Modi waved at the military strategist.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called the 17th century Ahom General Lasht Borofukan a symbol of India’s “etmanibber” military strength.

He expressed his eloquence on the veteran military strategist after referring to “contributing to the independence of the country” as a freedom fighter at an event to start the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ on 12 March.

Addressing a rally for the BJP’s ally, Asom Gana Parishad, in Bokakhat, eastern Assam, Mr. Modi said, “This land belongs to one of India’s greatest sons, Lasht Borofukan, who, with his Swadeshi (Swadeshi) strategy Assam was saved from external forces. ”

He said that Borfukan used the Brahmaputra’s water power to defeat military forces for India. “The great general taught us to be atmanirbhar In (self-sufficient) military warfare and our armed forces are moving in that direction, ”he said.

Borfukan led the Ahoms in 1671 at the Battle of Sarghat, considered the greatest naval battle on a river to conquer the Mughals. The Prime Minister also said that Borfukan was the inspiration behind strengthening India’s naval force and reviving inland water transport and creating the infrastructure associated with it.

He reminded the people of the Lachit Borfukan Gold Medal that the best cadets of the National Defense Academy are honored. The medal was instituted in 1999 following an announcement by General VP Malik that the medal would inspire defense personnel to emulate Borfukan’s bravery and sacrifice.

The Congress described the Prime Minister’s new call as “damage control” after the gaff, which took place almost a fortnight ago.
