‘We help’ to defeat exam stress

The Career Guidance and Adolescent Counseling Cell of the Higher Secondary Education Wing of the General Education Department on Friday launched ‘We Help,’ a toll-free telephone service to overcome various pressures experienced by students in relation to the Plus Two examinations. Provide necessary support to them and their parents.

This year has been unlike any other for students. Due to being at home for months, students find it difficult to motivate themselves in the absence of peer interaction, and student – teacher interaction is also very difficult.

Students may be unhappy with their preparation, or worried that they may remember all they studied, or get caught up in the pressure of family or friends to do well. Parents may also be concerned about the performance of their wards in examinations.

Whatever the problem, students and parents can call the toll-free number 18004255459 from 7 am to 7 pm for counseling. A statement said that this number will be operational on all working days until the examination is over.

Under the cell, ten counselors belonging to the Sauharuda Club working in schools will provide counseling in two shifts. He has been trained at the Government Medical College Hospital here by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences and Child Development Center, Bangalore.

The coordinator of the Sauharuda Club in all 1,680 higher secondary schools has also been trained to provide support to students to appear in the examination.
