On Sunday, volunteers from the Hare Krishna movement participated in a cleanliness drive at Thiruvanmiyur beach.
From 6 in the morning, the exercise lasted for three hours with about 30 participants, during which 35 items, including plastic bottles, packaging material and glass, were removed. The waste was sent for segregation and disposed of safely. A volunteer said that he cleaned the beach once every four months.
“We could not do it during the lockdown. We restarted it today. It is part of the importance of cleanliness and our efforts to protect the environment among the public, ”he said.
