    Sixteen AIADMK cadres and three DMK men were seriously injured in the violence that erupted during the political campaign Saturday night.

    DMK candidate from Karur constituency V. Groups backed by Senthil Balaji and AIADMK candidates and Transport Minister MR Vijayabaskar clashed in the street of the Mavadian temple soon after the election campaign came to a close. A group of DMK men who reached Mavadian Temple Street had allegedly objected to the men of AIADMK and continued their campaign under the leadership of Shri Vijayabhaskar even after the deadline. The men of AIADMK reportedly stated that they were returning home after ending their campaign in a vehicle with a speaker. However, after the objection, Sri Vijayabhaskar later left the region. The DMK men, who insisted all AIADMK men move away from the spot, were allegedly attacked and stone pelted with wooden logs, injuring sixteen people.

    He was treated in hospitals. The three DMK cadres were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital.

    Armed policemen brought the situation under control. Security was tightened in various parts of the constituency.

    Later, Mr. Vijayabaskar learned about the injured in hospitals. He said that Mr. Senthil Balaji could not feed the growing support for him, and was trying to create law and order issues with a retrospective motive to create a position to contest elections in Karur constituency.

    Ban order in village after clash

    The Taluk administration has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC and ordered the postponement of the annual fair of Sri Mahanteshwar Temple at Dornahalli village in Shahpur taluk of Yadgir district after incidents of group clashes and stone pelting. The unrest spread after an 18-year-old youth allegedly posted a photo of Shivalinga on social media on March 11.

    Police named the son of 18-year-old Mallikarjun as Basavaraj. he was arrested.

    On Thursday night, some activists of a Hindutva organization and residents of the village blocked the main road demanding immediate action against the accused.

    According to the FIR lodged by DRS organizer, Sharanbasappa, the miscreants entered an area on Thursday where Dalits were residing and allegedly uttering derogatory words and lathi, rod and chili powder along with residents, elders and women Attacked from.

    Police personnel who tried to control the situation said that the miscreants were injured after stone pelting. More police personnel were immediately deployed to bring the situation under control.

    Following the incident, the tehsildar of Shahpur, Jagannath Reddy implemented a ban order and postponed the scheduled annual fair of Sri Mahanteshwar temple on Friday to prevent possible clashes in the village.

    The order stated that the prohibition order would remain in force till the next order. People gathering and carrying weapons have been banned.

    Three cases registered

    The police have registered a total of three cases. Based on the complaint, a case was registered against Mallikarjun for allegedly insulting “Shivalinga”. The second case was registered by the police against 25 people for their alleged involvement in the stone pelting incident. The third case was filed by Mr. Sharanbasappa for allegedly assaulting 27 people and abusing their caste.

    Cases were registered under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 (1) (r) 3 (1) (S) and 3 (1) (W) under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. .

    Position under control

    “We have registered three cases and arrested three accused, including Mallikarjun,” he said. The situation in the village is under control as additional police force has been deployed to prevent any untoward incident ”, Rishikesh Sonwane, Superintendent of Police said Hindu.
