AIADMK candidate for Srirangam assembly constituency Ku. Pa. Krishnan has been booked for violating the Model Code of Conduct while filing his nomination here on Monday.
Former Minister Mr. Krishnan presented his papers at the taluk office in Srirangam.
A case was registered against Mr. Krishnan and a few others over a complaint preferred by Marudhurai, who was the head of a video surveillance team set up to implement the model code of conduct before the election.
Police sources said the charge against Mr. Krishnan was that he was brought over and above party workers, violating the Election Code and preventing a public servant from discharging his duties. .
A case has been registered under IPC Section including 143 (unlawful assembly) and 353 (criminal force to prevent public servants from discharging their duty).
