“Identification and management of severe acute malnutrition is a continuous process. According to the data provided by the states / UTs, the number of SAM children is now less than 10 lakhs, ”she said.
Ms Irani said measures have been taken to strengthen nutritional content, delivery, outreach and outcomes to focus on developing practices that nurture immunity and well-being from health and well-being.
“Steps have also been taken to leverage technology to improve nutritional quality and testing, improve delivery and improve governance. The government has advised the States / UTs to ensure that the quality of nutritional supplements are in line with the standards laid down under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and regulations are made, ”he said.
The minister further said that states and union territories have also been advised to promote the use of AYUSH systems for the prevention of malnutrition and related diseases.
Ms. Irani said that a program has been organized to support the development of Potion Vatikas in Anganwadi centers.
