Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson, who has been a part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for all the past 13 seasons, said he is definitely going to miss action this year but looks forward to watching the tournament from afar. . Posting some pictures of him in India, Watson said indifferently that he is “reminiscing” about the time he spent in his “second home”.

Watson played for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and then Chennai Super Kings (CSK). After playing in the previous season, the 39-year-old announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Through the post, Watson stated how his stint with RR revived his international career. He then talked about his on-stage performance with actor Shah Rukh Khan. Watson also said that he had made life-long friends with the people he played with.

One of the photos shared by Watson was from an innings he played in a blood-soaked CSK. During the IPL 2019 final against Mumbai Indians, Watson injured his knee while taking a dive but continued his batting. Later, his teammate Harbhajan Singh said that Watson needed six stitches after the match.

Promoted

In the inaugural season of the IPL, Watson played an important role for RR, winning four ‘Man of the Match awards’ and ‘Man of the Tournament’ awards as well. After his IPL stint, he was selected in place of Matthew Hayden in the Australia team. In 2013, he again won the Player of the Tournament award. A year later, Watson was named RR captain. He was then the highest-grossing foreign player in the IPL.

In 2016, RCB signed Watson and he led the outfits to a few matches the following season in the absence of Virat Kohli.
