Coronavirus live update | Curfew tonight in 8 cities of Rajasthan

A team from the Ministry of Health has told that about 10 to 20 pilgrims and 10 to 20 local people are being told positive every day at the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The team said that such positivity rates were likely to “fluctuate” rapidly.

The report notes that Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has stated that a negative COVID-19 test will not be a requirement for those wishing to visit the festival in Haridwar.

Maharashtra sees a one-day high with 30,535 cases

In its highest single-day case since the onset of the epidemic, Maharashtra reported 30,535 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday as its active case jumped from the figure of two lakh to 2,10,120.

Only 11,314 patients were discharged, with the state’s recovery rate dropping by 89.32% in the last 24 hours. At the same time, a record 1.38 lakh samples were also tested.

A fatal spike of 99 deaths was recorded (of which 43 were recorded in the last 48 hours and the rest was earlier), bringing the death toll to 53,399.

While the total case stands at 24,79,682, the cumulative recovery stands at 22,14,867.

Night curfew in 8 cities of Rajasthan from 22 March

Amid the increase in coronovirus cases, the Rajasthan government has decided to impose night curfew in eight cities from Monday and has also made it mandatory for people visiting the state to carry COVID-19 negative test reports.

Officials said curfew would be imposed in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Sagwara (Dungarpur) and Kushalgarh (Banswara) from 11 am to 5 am.

The decisions were taken during a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Officials said that it was decided that passengers coming to Rajasthan from other states would have to carry RT-PCR negative report (not more than 72 hours old) from 25 March.

Officials said that if the RT-PCR test report of the passengers is not negative, they will have to remain in quarantine for 15 days.
