Coronavirus | 60 million COVID-19 vaccine doses sent to 76 countries, 4.5 crore doses delivered in India: Harshvardhan

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Sunday that more than 6 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been sent to 76 countries, while 4.5 crore doses have been given to the beneficiaries in the country.

He also called for making the vaccination campaign a “Jan Andolan” (mass movement).

“As of this morning, approximately 4.5 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to people in this country. More than 60 million doses have been sent to 76 countries.

“Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party (BJP) president JP Nadda have called for making the vaccination campaign a ‘Jan Andolan’ (mass movement),” he said.

In promoting entrepreneurship in the field of life sciences, Vardhan, Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, inaugurated the IMTECH Bio-Innovation Center, an extension of the Atal Incubation Center (AIC) -CCMB, Hyderabad.

The IMTECH Bio-Innovation Center aims to become the hub of life sciences, biotechnology start-ups and MSMEs from across the country in a very short period of time.

IMTECH Director Sanjeev Khosla apprised the Minister about the various activities of the institute and especially the work done by scientists during the COVID-19 epidemic in the last one year.

“… Science has the ability to solve many of our old issues, they can be related to any field. When I see science happening in all laboratories in CSIR and other places, I think it is (science) capability. That is why, we are telling our scientists that we should have a very folk-centric approach and whatever we do in labs, we should have a connection with people for the future, ”said Mr. Vardhan.

The minister also urged the scientific community to use their experience around coronoviruses to be prepared for any unexpected thing (disease) that could spread in the future.

“I have told the scientific community that they have developed a lot of experience during the COVID epidemic. He rose to the occasion and helped us a lot. They should be prepared for any such unexpected thing (coronovirus) which may be thrown away in future.

Mr. Vardhan said that the Bio Innovation Center will help start-ups as well as MSMEs.

He said that a special fund of around 900 900 crore was set up to help accelerate the industry for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Mr. Vardhan inaugurated the Center of Excellence for Intelligent Sensors and Systems at the Central Scientific Instruments Organization here, as well as a program organized by the city unit of the BJP, an immunization help desk at Dadu Majra Colony here.
