CM says that manufacturing unit will be joint venture between Hafkin Institute and Bharat Biotech

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that during the visit of Hafkin Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited on Saturday, a plant worth will 154 crore will be set up for the manufacture of vaccines.

The announcement comes days after Mr. Thackeray urged the Center to allow the state-owned institute to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines.

Mr. Thackeray said that the plant will be a joint venture between Hafkin and Bharat Biotech. “Maharashtra is going to focus on vaccination in the coming days and therefore Hafkaine should focus on setting up a biomedical research center with the help of the center,” he said.

He said that necessary follow-up action would be taken to ensure that more vaccination centers are set up and the process of allowing the production of vaccines for hafakin be expedited. The Chief Minister said that a detailed proposal will be sent to the Central Government.

“Hafkin can acquire vaccine manufacturing techniques through the Indian Council of Medical Research or work on the basis of filling and eradication through which 126 lakh vaccines can be produced,” he said. He said that talks will also be held with others. Vaccine manufacturer.

Under the first phase, covaxin will undergo repair and filling as required. Production will continue until the need for covaxin is met and the plant will later be used to produce rabies vaccines.
