Windows 11: Microsoft won’t force you to get Windows 11 - Times of India

Ever since Microsoft announced its next Windows OS, there are speculations and fears that it is a must to upgrade the system hardware or buy a new laptop that fulfills the minimum system requirements of Windows 11. But Microsoft has made it clear that you can either choose to install Windows 11 manually on your Windows 10 devices or continue with the older OS. Windows 11 will arrive via Windows Update on Windows 10, but to get that, you would have to manually check for it on your systems. That means Microsoft is giving you full freedom in the case of downloading Windows 11.
“For consumers, we will continue to provide choices for control and transparency related to device updates. This includes the ability to schedule a restart, pause an update, and have full control over which optional updates to install. The feature update process for Windows 10 to Windows 11 will be a user-initiated ‘seeker’ process to choose to update to Windows 11,” said Microsoft.
Windows 10 will retire in October 2025, so that means you have four solid years to use the OS without any trouble. After 2025, you would have to switch to Windows 11, that is, if you want to remain a Windows user. Probably invest in a new laptop that comes with a built-in HD webcam, which also falls under one of the prerequisites to install Windows 11. Starting January 1, 2023, all laptops running Windows 11 should have a webcam with minimum HD resolution; the webcam must come with Auto Exposure (AE) and Auto White Balance (AWB) features too.
