West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard announced on Wednesday that his father had died, saying “I know you’re in a better place”. Taking to Instagram, Pollard shared the photos of him and his father with the jersey of Mumbai Indians along with the IPL 2019 winner’s trophy. Pollard captioned the post as “peacefully and gracefully .. #loveyoualways”. Touched many hearts and souls. Will continue to make you proud. No more “tall boys”. I know you are in a better place.
Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar mourned the death of Pollard’s father and expressed his deep condolences. Tendulkar tweeted, “Found out about the demise of your father @ KieronPollard55. My deepest condolences to you and all your family members in this hour of grief.”
The Windies white-ball skipper was last seen in a limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. In the coming days, Pollard will join his franchise Mumbai Indians for the 14th edition of the IPL.
IPL 2021 will be held from April 9 at six locations in India. The defending champion will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai in the Mumbai Indians tournament opener.
