  • United Kingdom: Scotland School Asks Male And Female Students And Teachers to Wear Skirts to Class to ‘Promote Equality’

A Primary School in Scotland is encouraging boys and girls to wear a skirt to school to promote ‘Gender Equality’.

Teachers and Students at Castleview Primary in Edinburgh took part in the initiative for the first time on November 4, termed “Wear a Skirt to School Day.”

An Email from Castleview Primary Said to Parents “We want our school to be inclusive and promote equality.” Boys as young as 3-years-old were asked to participate. Boys Allowed to Wear Skirts at Uppingham School in Rutland, UK

According to a report in the Daily Mail, The email added that the school wants children to be “comfortable,” and if they want leggings or other pants could be worn under the skirts. Skirts will be offered to those students who don’t have any of their own.

Castleview Primary wrote on Twitter that it is “so proud” of its pupils.

The move was inspired by protests in Spain last year after a young boy reportedly wore a skirt to a school in the country, and was sent to a psychologist over the matter and expelled from school. On Nov. 4 of last year, male students and teachers in the county wore skirts to school in support of the student, and the date is now known as “wear a skirt to school day.”

Cadbury, which has always come up with relatable and meaningful advertisements, dropped a ‘new’ one a few days ago and it has gone viral ever since. Cadbury brought back its iconic 90s Dairy Milk featuring model Shimona Rashi popularly known as ‘Cadbury Girl’ with a much-needed twist. If the old video saw the girl running to the field to celebrate her cricketer boyfriend’s win, the new Cadbury ad saw a happy man enjoying the chocolate bar and his cricketer girlfriend hit the winning run.

While everyone is hailing the gender-swap celebrating womanhood, here’s a look at this video below that can be called the inspiration to Cadbury’s original ad. This incident took place way back in 1975 when a saree-clad die-hard fan of Brijesh Patel, ran to the field to meet her idol. Here’s a look at the video that may have inspired the confectionary company and how!

Miss Penal System Contest 2021: Russia Organizes Beauty Pageant For Female Prison Wardens; Unveils Pictures of 12 Finalists

Russia’s Federal Penitentiary Service has organised ‘Miss Penal System Contest 2021’ for beautiful female prison wardens. They have also released the list of the final candidates for its annual Miss Penal System contest. Out of several contestants, 12 of the country’s beautiful prison guards are currently competing against each other as the voting is underway. Out of the 12 gorgeous Russian prison guards, one will bag the crown. According to the Russia Today report, around 100 contestants participated in the local competition and out of which only 12 have been selected for the final round.

They will receive votes from June 7 to June 11, 2021. After counting the votes, the name of the winner will be announced.  The final event will take place in Moscow on June 11, 2021. The beautiful female contestants come from all over the country, including Sakhalin in the Far East and Murmansk in the far north. However, the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service is not the first government agency to organize a beauty pageant to promote its work. In 2019, when the National Guard held the ‘Beauty of Rosgvardia’ pageant, police officer Anna Khramtsova won the competition.

However, Khramtsova enjoyed her victory for few days and later she was fired after she posted a video on Instagram from inside a Rosgvardia facility. According to the authorities, she was fired for breaching security.“The competition I won only aggravated everything, and now there is a prejudiced attitude towards me,” Khramtsova said.

Take a look at Anna Khramtsova’s post here:

This is not the first time the Federal Penitentiary Service has stunned everyone with the beauty pageant. Last month, a prison in Russia’s Novosibirsk city had revealed that they had installed British-style red phone boxes to decorate the room of the inmates so that they can make a call to the outside world.

  • Adyar Cancer Institute operated on a woman with rare tumor

Adyar Cancer Institute operated on a woman with rare tumor

26 years old p. Mahalakshmi was suffering from severe back pain for six months. He sought medical help near his residence at Paunjur in Chengalpattu district.

He resigned from his job as a machine operator in a private firm because the pain was excruciating. Her husband is an agricultural laborer. When the drugs did not help, a biopsy was performed and it revealed a cancerous tumor that had developed into the kidney and intestine. She was administered concurrent chemotherapy and radiation from August to December 2020 without relief. “The doctors there sent me to the Cancer Institute in Chennai for treatment,” said the mother of two.

She managed to come to the institute in mid-January and investigations revealed that she was suffering from chondrosarcoma.

“He had increased the pain and was unable to walk. The tumor was attacking the L3 vertebrae. It spread to the kidneys, intestine, duodenum, inferior vena cava and colon. We did the sagitel en block spondyllectomy, ”said the consultant Eurosurgeon to Anand Raja, who led a team of seven doctors who were working on it.

Doctors have long discussed the surgery done earlier this month. Since only half of the spinal cord was affected, a third of the vertebrae were preserved to ensure stability of the spine, he said.

“Chondrosarcoma arises from bone. The tumor was a massive mass and developed from the L3 vertebrae and spread through the abdomen. This included blood vessels, intestines, right ureters, and kidneys. One affected kidney had to be removed, ”Dr. The king said.

“We explained to the patient the risks involved in the surgery because the vertebrae would be exposed and injury to the nerves could lead to loss of movement,” he said. “The patient was highly motivated and gave us the confidence to move forward.”

Kalpana Balakrishnan, head of anesthesia, said that the 17-hour surgery started at 9 am and ended at around 1.30 pm the next day. The patient had excessive blood loss during surgery and was on ventilator support for a day. Five days after surgery, he was provided with physiotherapy. “She has recovered completely. The biopsy results show that all margins of probability of recurrence are low, ”he said.

Ms. Mahalakshmi is able to walk and is not on medication.

Arvind Kishanmurthy, head of surgical oncology, said that bone cancer was a form of solid cancer. Condrosarcoma does not respond to chemotherapy and radiation.

“It is a rare cancer because the cancer usually spreads from other organs to the bones. We have tried our best to remove the tumor. The message is that surgery, although chronic, is still the gold standard for this type of cancer, ”he said.

In Ernakulam, female candidates have a negligible presence

Mainstream political parties collectively fielded only seven women candidates out of a total of 52 in 14 assembly constituencies of the district in the upcoming elections.

The under-representation of 13.46% came after former Mahila Congress president Lathika Subhash bowed her head in protest against the alleged patriarchal order in political parties and the party refused to give her a seat.

Congress and the United Democratic Front (UDF) have zero female candidates in Ernakulam. “We expected the party to field at least one female candidate from Ernakulam,” he said. Although we are disappointed, because committed and disciplined party workers we accept that decision and not for a minute, can we accept the manner of protest adopted by Ms. Subhash, ”Lali Joffin, District Congress Committee Secretary General And the former Ernakulam district president of the woman said. Congress.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Being the only female candidate out of eight candidates from Aluva Assembly Constituency did not fare better with Shelna Nishad, while the Communist Party of India (CPI) fared worse than men with both its candidates in the district. Among the allies of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) coalition, the Kerala Congress (Mani) fielded one woman candidate, Sindhumol Jacob, from Pirvom, while the Janata Dal (Secular) gave its only ticket to Jose Theatril. There are even two LDF-backed independent men.

“The situation is improving at the moment with the party appearing in the fielding of 14 women candidates across the state. Women’s empowerment does not just mean financial empowerment and it also calls for political empowerment.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), comprising three women out of the 11 candidates in the district, performed comparatively better, with 27.27% women participation. The party won TP Sindhu Mol from Perumbavoor, Padmaja S. from Ernakulam. Renu Suresh was fielded from Menon and Kunnathunad assembly constituencies. However, Bharath Dharma Jan Sena, partner of the National Democratic Alliance, gave all three tickets to the men.

Two of the eight candidates in the Twenty20 are women, representing 25%, with Chitramkumar and Shiney Antony contesting from Perumbavoor and Kochi assembly segments respectively. Party sources said the initial plan was to ensure 50% participation of women, but the party could not find suitable candidates for Thorikakara and Ernakulam constituencies. But the party was determined to ensure 50% reservation in the selection of candidates in all future elections, sources said.

The state-wide version of V4 People, the apolitical outfit V4 Kochi, was formed just before the last local body elections, however, the district could not include a single woman from any of its three candidates. “Our plan was to field a female candidate from Thripunithura, but she did not. However, going forward, we will make the participation of women an integral policy in our electoral contests.

Woman for kidnapping 3-month-old child in Navghar

The Uran police on Monday arrested a 26-year-old childless woman for kidnapping a three-month-old baby.

The woman, who hails from Jalna and hails from Jasai, Orai with her husband, often visited Navghar, where she kept a bank account.

During his visits, he had seen a house, which contained an infant.

At around 11 am on Monday, she reached the boy’s mother and said that she was from Anganwadi and inquired if the child had been given a dose of polio.

“The woman asked the mother to prepare her three-year-old daughter while she would take care of the boy.” After the mother went inside, the accused ran away with the boy, ”said Ravindra Budhwant, senior police inspector at Uran police station.

On finding her son missing, the mother contacted the Uran police, who, with the help of CCTV footage, traced the accused to Khanda Colony within six hours.

He said, “From Uran to Panvel, we alerted all the police teams. We saved the boy in the evening and handed him over to his mother. The accused confessed that since she was childless for 10 years, she wanted a child and hence she decided to kidnap a child, ”said Mr. Budhwant.

The woman will be produced before the court on Tuesday.

‘Spin’, Disney Channel’s first India-centred film follows a young female DJ

The television movie stars Avantika Vandanapu as lead character Rhea Kumar who discovers a talent for mixing music

Looks like Disney Channel finally has its first original TV movie centred on Indian culture, with an Indian-American lead, according to a report by Entertainment Tonight.

Spin follows Rhea (Avantika), an Indian-American teen who learns she has a passion for creating DJ mixes that blend the textures of her Indian heritage and the world around her. Her life revolves around her group of friends, Molly (Anna Cathcart, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Watson (Jahbril Cook) and Ginger (Kerri Medders), her afterschool coding club, her family’s Indian restaurant and her tight-knit, multigenerational family, which has only grown closer since her mother’s passing.

Everything changes when she falls for aspiring DJ Max (Michael Bishop) and a long lost fervor for music is reignited. Rhea discovers that she has a natural gift for creating beats and producing music but must find the courage to follow her true inner talent.

    Who’s in it?

Spin does not have an official premiere date just yet but it is slated for some time this year. Directed by Manjari Makijany (Desert Dolphin, I See You), the film breaks barriers with an international Indian-led ensemble that includes actor Abhay Deol (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) as Rhea’s father Arvind, U.K. comedian/actor Meera Syal (The Kumars at No. 42) as Rhea’s grandmother Asha, and Aryan Simhadri (who will star in the Disney+ remake of Cheaper By The Dozen) as Rhea’s younger brother Rohan.

“I’m so eager to have this movie out in the world — as a reminder for young Indian girls, and anyone really, to follow their aspirations,” Avantika, who grew up being a dancer, exclusively tells ET over email.

Makijany, who grew up in Mumbai and now resides in the U.S, adds, “I was beyond thrilled to introduce my culture through Rhea and her family to a broad audience. It’s so important to see someone like myself represented in a mainstream way.”

  • Bhumika Chawla on working in Telugu films ‘Seetimaarr’, ‘Paagal’, ‘Idhe Maa Katha’ and how there aren’t enough roles for female actors her age

Bhumika Chawla on working in Telugu films ‘Seetimaarr’, ‘Paagal’, ‘Idhe Maa Katha’ and how there aren’t enough roles for female actors her age

Actor Bhumika Chawla will be seen in a bunch of films soon, but admits that not enough interesting roles are written for women of her age

There was a restraint and calmness with which Bhumika Chawla used to speak when she was one of the most sought-after leading women in Telugu and Tamil cinema a few years ago. The tide might have changed and she might be doing fewer films now, but the calm demeanour is intact even when she speaks her mind, without mincing words.

This summer will see her in two Telugu films; she has completed filming a third one. “I take up a film only if it is worth my time. I want characters that give me scope to perform and make some impact. Not every story or character needs to have the potential to change society; sometimes I can do a film for fun, but there has to be something in it for me. I don’t want to be standing next to the hero doing nothing,” she says, on what keeps her going after two decades in cinema.

    Short but pivotal

First up is director Sampath Nandi’s Seetimaarr, releasing on April 2, in which she is cast as Gopichand’s sister. She is then filming for a cameo appearance in director Naresh Kuppili’s Paagal starring Vishwak Sen, which is scheduled to release on April 30. “Kabaddi plays an important part in Seetimaarr and I motivate Gopichand to do his best. In Paagal, I have very few scenes, but they are intense.”

Bhumika divides her time between Mumbai and Hyderabad. When she had to begin work for the new Telugu film Idhe Maa Katha in October, amid the pandemic, she approached it with trepidation: “I discussed it with my family and we agreed that invariably, we all have to step out. Film units were also working with all the necessary precautions. Any time I spotted someone without a mask, I wouldn’t hesitate to tell them. I would wash hands frequently, do steam inhalations and drink turmeric milk.”

She had spent the lockdown months near Nasik, with her father, and says it was the best thing that had happened to her in years. “It was a tough time for everyone. I am thankful to God that I could spend time amid greenery, and it had a healing effect on me. We all forget that we need to slow down. We have no time to stand and stare,” she says, quoting WH Davies’ poem ‘Leisure’.

    Rider’s high

    Bhumika Chawla

    Bhumika Chawla

Director Guru Pawan’s Idhe Maa Katha is a road film in which Bhumika is one of the four principal characters. For this, she had to ride a heavy-duty bike. “I have ridden lighter bikes in the past, but never a Bullet. I trained for this film and discovered that there is better stability while riding at a speed of 60 to 80 kilometres/hour than at 20 to 40 kilometres/hour. I loved the adrenaline rush. Riding with the wind on my face gave me a high.”

She doesn’t want to divulge more about the story or her character, but states that she liked how it shows that women need to rediscover themselves and realise their dreams, when life overwhelms them with responsibilities.

Bhumika is also part of Tamil film Kannai Nambathey and the Hindi film Operation Majnu. She discloses, however, that she doesn’t come across interesting roles often. Film industries tend to slot female actors above 40 into sister or sister-in-law roles and she emphasises that those characters need to have depth and merit: “I am grateful for the opportunities I have had so far, but I also crave for the kind of films that Tabu or Vidya Balan get to do. Recently, I was also smitten by Sushmita Sen’s performance in Aarya. More stories and characters need to be written for women in our age group. It is not the audience that slots you, but the industry. As an actor, I want to do things I haven’t done before.”
