Grand Canyon University’s male basketball player Oscar Fryer was one of three people killed in a vehicle accident in California on Tuesday, the university announced. He was 23.

Fryer, his older sister Andrea Moore and a friend died in an accident near Lodi, California Statement of gcu.

Fryer had completed his collegiate career three days earlier, after Antony played 25 minutes in the first-round of the NCAA tournament in Iowa. The senior from Oakland, California, was set to participate in practice starting next month after graduating with a degree in communications.

“He was the heartbeat of our team with his vibrant, energetic personality. I cannot put into words the sorrows and sorrows that we all feel, but we know that he is in heaven and we have a lot to learn. Glad we will be together again ”GCU coach Bryce Drew said in a statement.
