Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the Congress of giving “false guarantees” when it was in power at the Center and earlier in Assam as well, and failed to provide security and stability in the northeastern state.
The Congress can go to any extent to come to power and it is clear from the “lies” that they are spreading through the manifesto, the Prime Minister said at an election rally in Bokakhat.
“When the Congress was in government at the same time at the Center and the state, there was double neglect, double corruption and double intrusion,” he said.
“They gave a false guarantee to provide employment and women’s empowerment,” he said.
However, the double-engine NDA government ensured that the foundation of development was laid and the state connected to the rest of the country, while more rapid growth would occur over the next five years.
“Congress means lies, confusion, instability, violence and corruption. The party’s coffins are empty and they want to come to power at any cost to fill it”, Mr. Modi said, sarcastically over the grand old party.
During the Congress rule, people thought that Assam would be free from bomb blasts, gunfire or violence and peace would prevail, but the NDA government has ensured that the state has peace and stability.
He also accused the Congress of giving protection to poachers, but the NDA government ensured that rhinoceros poaching is stopped and poachers were put in jails, while the famous Kaziranga National Park was freed from encroachers.
The Prime Minister was addressing an election rally at Bocahat in Golaghat district from where the minister and AGP president Atul Bora is contesting.
