Lathika Subhash shaved her head in the courtyard in front of the party office as a mark of protest against the ticket denial
In embarrassment for the Congress in Kerala, Mahila Congress President Lathika Subhash resigned from the post on Sunday after being denied the Ettumannur seat, soon after which the candidate list was released for the assembly elections in New Delhi on 6 April.
The senior leader also shaved his head sitting in the front courtyard of the party office as a mark of protest against the denial of ticket.
Soon after Ms. Subhash, who met journalists at the party headquarters Indira Bhavan, party chief Mullappally Ramachandran announced the list of candidates in New Delhi, stating that it was a shortage of women candidates.
This may be the first time that any leader of any political party in Kerala has taken such a step to register their protest against the leadership of the party, so that they do not get tickets.
