Former England fast bowler Joy Benjamin has died of a heart attack at the age of 60, it was announced on Tuesday. Benjamin was born in St Kitts, but made his name playing county cricket for Warwickshire and Surrey, and appeared in his only Test against South Africa in 1994. He took four wickets for 42 runs in the first innings of a match he remembered for teammate Devon Malcolm. South Africa’s nine wickets in the second innings. Benjamin also played two ODIs and ended his career with 387 first-class wickets at an average of 29.94.

His former county sides Surrey and Warwickshire confirmed both deaths. Surrey said the club’s flag above the Oval’s pavilion would be flown at half mast.
