iOS 15: 5 features that ‘old’ iPhones will not get – morningtidings

Last month, Apple unveiled iOS 15 — the next big software update — for iPhones and earlier this week the first public beta was also rolled out. iOS 15 comes with a slew of new features that will enhance the user experience. However, not all the new features will be rolling out to all iPhone users across the world. There are some features on iOS 15 that aren’t compatible with older iPhones. Here are five such features:


Live text feature on the camera

One of the coolest features to come with iOS 15 is identifying and processing image texts. For instance, you click the photo of a name of a restaurant, with iOS 15 you can just tap on the text in the photo to get information about it. However, the feature will be available on iPhones that are powered by the A12 Bionic processor or above.


No all-new Weather app for old iPhone users

The iPhone’s Weather app is set to get an all-new look and many features. Like animated backgrounds will be a part of the Weather app with iOS 15 but it’s restricted to newer iPhones only.


The walk steady feature is also not meant for ‘everyone’

One health and fitness related feature coming with iOS 15 is Walking Steadiness. The feature uses algorithms to monitory how steady your walk is. But the feature is meant for iPhone 8 and newer iPhones only.
Some FaceTime features won’t work on old iPhones
One of the biggest changes to iPhones with iOS 15 will be FaceTime features. Apple showcased a lot of new features coming to its video calling app. For instance, Portrait mode that will blur the ground intelligently. However, the feature will be available on newer iPhones only.
Spatial audio won’t come to all iPhones
Apple’s Spatial Audio feature enhances the music experience on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. It’s head tracking component is really good but it will work on iPhone 7 and above.
It’s important to note that Apple does give latest updates to older iPhones for many years. Like iOS 15 will come to iPhone 6S, a phone that was launched six years ago.
