Facebook-owned social media platform Instagram has rolled out a new feature that gives its users more control in terms of the kind of posts they see in the Explore Tab of the app.
The feature — called Sensitive Content Control — will allow users to set the degree of “sensitive content” from accounts that they don’t follow.
What is Explore Tab?
It is the section of the Instagram app where users are able to see posts from all the accounts that they don’t follow. Private profiles do not end up getting featured on Explore Tab and only accounts that are public come up in that section.

According to the blog post from Facebook and Instagram, sensitive content are posts that don’t necessarily break the company’s rules, but could potentially be upsetting to some people. The support page for Sensitive Content Control gives three parameters for sensitive content:

What will Sensitive Content Control do?
This new feature, according to the company, will give users control over sensitive content. If they are fine with the kind of posts that are coming on their Explore Feed, they can leave things as they are.
Alternatively, they can adjust the Sensitive Content Control to see more or less of some types of sensitive content.
How to enable Sensitive Content Control?
The new functionality will give Instagram users three options — “Allow,” “Limit” and “Limit Even More.” By default, it will be set to “Limit.”
Users will be able to enable the setting by heading to their profile, then tapping Settings > Account > Sensitive Content Control.
