The industry on Monday called for accelerating vaccine production and supply across the country and opening vaccination for all age groups.
However, it was emphasized that factories and shop floors should be kept open for economic reasons.
“At this time, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) calls for swift action on” whatever it takes “by the government to expedite the production, supply and distribution of vaccines, said CII President Uday Kotak. “Strict adherence and enforcement of safety and hygiene protocol by all sections of society is absolutely critical,” he said.
The Board of Industries reiterated that lockdown was not a solution at the present time and requested to maintain stringent COVID-related protocols for public places and workplaces.
To control the wide spread of infection, CII recommended that no more than 10 people be included in any meeting or gathering.
“Factories and shop floors should be kept open for economic reasons so that production and supply chains are not disturbed,” it said. As far as possible ‘work from home’ should be adopted and in cases where this is not possible, only one third of the attendance of employees should be allowed.
