England fast bowler Mark Wood insisted on Wednesday that winning the toss was not the deciding factor in the Twenty20 series against India. England led the five-match series 2–1 after an eight-wicket win in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. But so far each team that has won the toss has chosen to bat second and won. As the evening falls, the dew becomes heavy and it becomes more difficult to bowl. Rival skipper Eoin Morgan and Virat Kohli both expressed disappointment when they lost the opportunity to bowl first.
“I think Wood made the toss a big issue, which it really is,” Wood said.
“Our focus is not on the toss – it’s just on the performances.”
“If either team has to bat first, they both still think they can win. I don’t think there is a huge loss.
“It’s not seen as a huge loss, it’s just that both teams like to chase because you know exactly what you need to do and have seen how the pitch is playing. It’s called Twenty20 Is made a bigger deal than it used to be, ”she added.
Wood said England and India, ranked first and second in the World T20 rankings, both have the total number of their batting lineups to “chase”.
England could seal the series with a win in the fourth game in Ahmedabad and Wood said it would be a “great achievement”.
“It can give us great confidence to go to English Summer and the World Cup to be held here.”
The 31-year-old, who missed the second game due to an injured heel, said he is using the tour to face Indian conditions at the World Cup in October.
“I am looking at his bowlers. I played with Shardul Thakur of Chennai and he got a new slow ball,” Wood said.
“I’m looking at it and it’s working well – is it something I can try and adapt to my game.”

Wood said he is trying to improve his Yorker.
“There are always things to do better, these are the conditions that we are going to face in the World Cup so it is trying to get the right skills to adapt to any surface.”
