Gokulam Kerala FC beat Mohammedan SC 2–1 at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium on Sunday to propel Denis Antavi to the Malabarians to top the I-League table. Churchill and TRAU shared points with a 1–1 draw on the day, with Gokulam Kerala FC winning their match against Mohammedan SC to seal their authority in the I-League title race. The Malabarians started the match on an attacking note and were desperate to take an early lead. In the 3 rd minute Dennis Antavi held the game and released a ball to Mayakanan, who reached the goal. However the latter’s powerful strike overtook the target.
Mohammedan SC was pinned by Gokulam Kerala as Malabaris played their usual football of possession and building play from behind. In the 15th minute, against the run of the game, the Black Panthers had a chance to take the lead.
