homepod: Soon, you will be able to use HomePod mini as your TV speaker – morningtidings

Apple is adding one important feature to its smallest smart speaker, HomePod mini via an update that will let users use it as their TV speaker.
9to5Mac is reporting that Apple is rolling out version 15 update to HomePod mini which will enable users to pair two or more of minis and use them as a TV speaker for Apple TV 4K.
As we have mentioned in our review ( here), Apple HomePod mini offers pretty good, clear and loud sound output and pairing them with other minis will further improve the audio quality for users. That means, if you have multiple HomePod minis at your home, they can be paired together to act as the TV speaker.
Apart from that, the update also enables Siri voice control through supporting HomeKit accessories.
The update also carries several minor improvements for the HomePod mini. For instance, HomePod mini can now turn on/off Apple TV, control playback or simply ask it to play a particular music track. Here’s a list of all the changes that Software Version 15 brings to the HomePod duo:

  • Ability to use a single or pair of HomePod mini as the default speaker for Apple TV 4K
  • Media playback controls now appear on the iPhone’s lock screen when a nearby HomePod mini is playing music.
  • Option to set lower bass volume to avoid disturbing others.
  • Siri Voice control to turn on Apple TV 4K or play a movie or a music track.
  • Siri can now automatically adjust the volume based on the surroundings.
  • Support for package detection with HomeKit video
