Flipkart joins hands with Adani group

Flipkart, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies, has formed a strategic and commercial partnership with Gujarat-based Adani Group for logistics and data center-related businesses.

In this partnership, Flipkart will work with Adani Logistics Limited, a unit of the Adani Group, to strengthen Flipkart’s supply chain infrastructure and enhance its ability to serve its customers.

“Homegrown e-commerce giant Flipkart is our new strategic partner. In a two-tiered partnership, AdaniConneX will build its new Tier 4 data center and Adani Logistics, India’s Leader in Logistics, will build its 534,000 sq ft supply center. As per the deal, a new supply center spread over 5.34 lakh sq ft will be opened in Mumbai.

In addition, Flipkart will leverage its third data center AdaniConneX Private Limited, the expertise and data center technology solution of AdaniConneX, its Chennai-based facility.

AdaniConnex Pvt Ltd is a recently formed joint venture between EdgeConneX and Adani Enterprises Limited.

“As part of this partnership, Adani Logistics Limited will build a 534,000-square-foot large scale fulfillment center at its upcoming logistics hub in Mumbai, which Flipkart needs to address the growing demand for e-commerce in Western India and market penetration. The center is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2022 and will have the capacity to house 10 million units of inventory from vendors.

In addition to strengthening Flipkart’s supply chain infrastructure, the company hopes to increase local employment and facilitate 2,500 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs.

Other Prague partnerships will see Flipkart developing its third data center at the AdaniConnecX Chennai facility as one of the largest private cloud deployments in the country, to further strengthen its e-commerce business in India.

“The AdaniConX data center is a brand-new facility, which enables Flipkart to design security for the growing basic needs of the security center and keeping data locally within India,” the statement said.
