Preparations are in full swing for the Assembly elections to be held on April 6 in the district. District Collector A. Alexander said on Sunday that COVID-19 would be ensured as preventive measures, thermal scanners and sanitizers at all polling station entrances. After checking the temperature, voters will be allowed inside. Trained ASHA workers will be deployed for the task.
Mr Alexander said that Alexander’s break-the-chain ‘kit, which includes PPE kits and sanitizers, will be made available at polling stations. Polling officers, policemen and volunteers will be provided with the COVID-19 safety kit. Special arrangements will be made to control the crowd. Only three persons will be allowed inside the polling station at one time. Steps will be taken to ensure that voters standing in queues maintain physical distance. Soap and water will be provided at the entry and exit of polling stations.
COVID-19 patients / suspects will be allowed to cast their vote between 6 pm and 7 pm. They should reach the polling booth wearing PPE kits, gloves and N95 masks.
