The 2021 Big 12 tournament will feature a team that has not only earned the tournament’s first No. 1 seed, but has never won the Big 12 regular season title until 2020-21.
It has been a terrific season for Baylor (21-1, 13-1), who, despite enjoying a string of successful seasons under coach Scott Drew, did not earn a leading spot in this week’s tournament. Byers won his first Big 12 title on March 2 with an overtime win over West Virginia. This is their first conference title overall since 1950, when they were members of the Southwest Conference.

Boiler went on to achieve this season by going 4–0 against the top-10 teams. This is thanks in large part to junior guard Jared Butler, who averages 17.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.0 per game. He, MaCio Teague and Davion Mitchell will look to lead the Bears to one of their most successful conference slates.
Having said that, look for the usual suspects Kansas (19-8, 12-6 Big 12) and West Virginia (18-8, 11-6 Big 12) to stand their way – not to mention talented teams like Oklahoma and Texas do.
