The Indian unit of Apple’s Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn assembled the device at its plant in southern Tamil Nadu state, which would be said to be from two sources familiar with the matter.

Foxconn did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but has previously said it does not comment on client-specific work.

Apple is relocating some areas of production from China to other markets as it conducts a trade war between Washington and Beijing. In November, a person familiar with the matter said that Foxconn was taking some iPad and MacBook assemblies from China to Vietnam at its request.
