Ashok Leyland Limited (ALL) recently delivered the first of its kind ‘Light Bullet Proof Vehicle’ (LBPV) to the Indian Air Force.
LBPV is a generic version of Lockheed Martin (LM) developed under the transfer of technology from LM. It is completely indigenous, all said in a statement.
Vipin Sondhi, MD and CEO, all said, “This LBPV is another example of our team’s ability, combined with a strong sense of understanding required in difficult situations.”
Our mobility solutions range from 4×4 to 12×12 for defense personnel and logistics, and they have proven to be reliable partners in our armed forces. Our relationship with Lockheed Martin began in 2014 under their CVNG program and TOT transfer and we hope to develop many more products on this platform for India and the export market.
LBPV has got four key features that make it ideal for hosting military applications. High-road dynamics in mud, sand, rocks, and shallow water. Extremely high payload fraction, accommodating crew of six and sufficient cargo space to carry enough mission equipment. Excellent ride quality and low-staying absorbing power. It provides better security and combat capability. The crew is well protected from both ballistic and blast threats and can launch attacks.
