Budget allocation for city development is not enough: MIM

The party wants the government to complete the MGBS-Falaknuma stretch of metro rail

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has requested the state government to approve more funds and projects for the development of Hyderabad, particularly in the Old City and the allocations made in the budget are not sufficient.

Participating in the general discussion on the budget in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, Mo. MIM’s Moazam Khan said that the Charminar walking tour had been going on for centuries and it was the poor hawkers who suffer the most damage whenever they cut and cut the work. He said that no allotment had been made for flood proofing and that all the flood affected families had not been given relief so far.

The funds allocated for development works in the GHMC area were inadequate, Mr. Khan said that the government was talking of taking the new phase of the metro rail without completing the MGBS-Falaknuma section of the first phase, despite repeated requests from legislators of the old Area of the city. He wanted to know from the government when the TRAM project between Mozamjahi Bazar and Charminar would start.

On the development of the Musee River Front project, the MIM MLA said that it was limited to talk for the last five years only and despite allocation of funds in every budget, no amount was spent on it till now. An amount of ₹ 200 crore was also allocated in this budget, but he said that he was not sure how much would be spent this time too.

Mr. Khan further requested the government to create a camp office for the city legislators. Despite the availability of government land in many constituencies, work on the offices was not yet done. He also wanted to know why the allocation for the development of minorities is not being spent completely every year.

TRS’s Peddi Sudarshan Reddy also participated in the general discussion on the budget and commended the government for presenting a comprehensive budget aimed at the development of all sectors.
