Minister says that it will increase gold production by bringing competitive edge and qualitative change
The state government has robbed the idea of allowing private players to mine at Hatti Gold Mines.
Mining and Geology Minister Murugesh Nirani said that the production of gold will increase by bringing competitive edge and qualitative changes to private players in mining, while day-to-day administration, management, HGML will be owned by the government.
The minister also said that he would hold talks with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi to seek tax exemption including GST and income tax relief for jewelery start-ups in the state. His proposal on tax holidays for the jewelery ecosystem comes a day after the state announced ambitious sales and branding plans. Karnataka is the only gold producing state in the country.
Reacting to the demand of the Jewelers Association and Jewelery Designers Association for tax holiday for new undertakings, the minister said on Saturday, “Tax is the domain of the leisure center and I will therefore consult the Union Finance Minister and the Union Parliamentary Affairs, Coal And Minister of Mines to seek tax exemption. “
The Board of Trade of Jewelers and Designers meeting Mr. Nirani sought to provide better connectivity to the proposed jewelery park at Kalaburagi or Bidar in Kalyanagi Karnataka region. The park will be set up on about 50 to 75 acres of land near the railway station and the airport.
He said, ‘The government has been keen on promoting industries in the backward welfare Karnataka region and attracting more investment and generating employment opportunities.’
The jewelery park in the Special Economic Zone is expected to generate more revenue for the government and job opportunities in the region.
