Expressing concern over the disappearing folk culture and traditions in the era of globalization, liberalization and privatization, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement and Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement R. The founder and president of Balasubramaniam said that people had more responsibility for the protection of folk culture, which would otherwise reduce fossils.
Addressing the address at the fifth annual convocation of Karnataka Folklore University at Hirittu Open Air Theater at Gotagodi in Haveri district on Tuesday, Mr. Balasubramanian said that India’s distinctive folk culture and values were unique and were not just superstitions.
He stated that there was a need to shape the concepts of universal brotherhood based on regional concepts. “If there is no understanding of regional cultures and folklore, then the concept of universal brotherhood would have no meaning. That is why there is a dire need to analyze our folklore and cultural roots with scientific and intellectual nature and to spread the greatness of our folk culture to the world, ”he said.
Sri Balasubramaniam said that folklore dispelled the curiosity of all because it manifested itself in innumerable forms. “Karnataka has the credit of setting up the first public university in the world and the state has a unique folk culture and tradition. Traditional knowledge has been passed orally from generation to generation. There is a dire need for scientific documentation of traditional knowledge and conversion of traditional knowledge into technology.
