The Union Ministry of Culture said in a statement that the Center on Friday set up a high-level committee to plan for the commemoration of the 75th year of independence in 2022.
The ministry on Friday notified the formation of a 259-member national committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier, the government had constituted an implementation committee and a committee of secretaries headed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“The National Committee consists of eminent and eminent citizens from all fields. The committee will provide policy directions and guidelines for the creation of programs to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Indian independence at the national and international levels, ”the ministry said.
Members include Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Governors, political leaders, including BJP President JP Nadda and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former President Pratibha Patil, Chief Justice SA Bobde and Chief of Defense Staff, Nobel laureates Amartya Sen and Kailash Satyarthi, former Prime Ministers. Huh. Ministers HD Deve Gowda and Manmohan Singh.
According to the notification, the committee also includes singer Lata Magheskar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, “spiritual leaders” Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Baba Ramdev and Jaggi Vasudev.
The ministry said that the first meeting of the committee will be held on March 8 and the ceremony will begin 12 weeks before August 15, 2022 i.e. March 12, 2021, which is the 91st anniversary of the historic Salt Satyagraha under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
