One thing to watch out for: Windows has confirmed the minimum system requirements to use its new OS have changed, so it can “move forward and take better advantage of the latest innovations”. This means if you’re running an older computer, you might not be able to upgrade.
Microsoft confirmed you’ll need at least 1GHz or fast 64-bit processor, 8GB of RAM, 64GB or larger storage, a 720p HD display and a DirectX 12 compatible graphics card with a WDDM 2.0 driver.
Can’t wait to get your hands on the new features? You can join the beta program to try out Windows 11, but be warned: Microsoft says the software is still in the testing phase and has “rough edges”. Beta testers are likely to experience plenty of bugs, crashes and missing features.
