Yenepoya (Deemed to Be University) announced on Monday that it was closing medical and paramedical colleges with immediate effect until further orders.
University Registrar KS Gangadhar Somayaji said in a circular here that teaching and non-teaching staff of medical colleges, however, would work normally. So will the interns, postgraduate students and nursing staff. The Medical College Hospital will also function normally.
The college will arrange online classes for the students.
The colleges being closed include Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Allied Healthcare, Ayurvedic, Homeopathy and Naturopathy.
While Mr. Somayaji did not give any specific reason for the decision, the district COVID-19 nodal officer H.K. Ashok said 27 out of 27 students from Yenpeia’s medical and paramedical courses tested positive for COID-19 on Monday. last few days. Dr. Ashok said that every single case of student testing was positive, all students are being asked for RT-PCR test from the respective institutes.
