Xiaomi to invest 100 million in retail expansion

Xiaomi, an electronic goods company, announced a new initiative on Thursday – go ahead with the Mi, under which it will invest ₹ 100 crore to support its retail partners, aiming to sell offline touch points over the next two years. Currently, the company has more than 15,000 retail touch points, of which more than 3,000 are Mi Stores which are exclusive retail stores for Mi and Redmi products.

“We will increase the total number of touchpoints to over 30,000 in the next one year and the number of exclusive Mi stores from 3,000 to over 6,000 in the next two years. For this, we have planned a Rs 100 crore support package to set up and run retail stores in the next two years, ”said Manu Jain, MD of the company.

He said that the initiative aims to promote retail entrepreneurship in the country, especially in rural markets, and is expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 10,000 Indians.

Xiaomi India COO Muralikrishnan B stated that the company intends to expand the Mi Store on Wheels format to cover other far-flung corners of the country and bring the Mi Store showroom experience to limited access areas.

Also under the ‘Grow with Mi’ initiative, the company will also start Mi Retail Academy, which will train entrepreneurs from various backgrounds. This includes product training, sales training, customer management and other soft skills such as marketing, in-store designing, customer service and retail excellence.
