National champion Sandeep Singh Mann booked a 74 kg slot in the Indian wrestling team for the upcoming Asian Olympic qualifier, with Narsingh Pancham Yadav and veteran Amit Dhankhar returning to the trials held in New Delhi on Tuesday. The 74kg, despite being in the most competitive category, were close in spite of the absence of two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar, who left the trial saying that he was not ready. Sandeep defeated Dhankhar 2–1 in the final bout, earning the right to be on the flight at Almaty, Kazakhstan, where the Olympic qualifier will be held from 9–11 April.
Sandeep defeated Narsingh Yadav 4-3 in the semi-finals.
Amit made the criteria after winning his semi-final against Jitendra Kinha. They won 3-3 in the final points.
Satyavrat Kadian and Sumit Malik won the trials in 97 kg and 125 kg respectively.
