The final of the World Test Championship (WTC) between India and New Zealand will be played at the Ages Bowl in Southampton. The summit clash will be played between June 18 and June 22, with June 23 as Reserve Day. Speaking to ANI, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla confirmed the development. He said, yes, the finals will be played in Southampton keeping an eye on the status of COVID.
Team India recorded a 3–1 series win over England in the final of the inaugural edition of the WTC on Saturday.
India topped the WTC points table with 72.2 percentage points, the factor that determined the final places rather than the total points, following a change in the evaluation system due to the Kovid-19 disintegration.
New Zealand were the first team to book a place in the final with 70 per cent points. Australia finished third with 69.2 percentage points while England finished fourth with 61.4 percentage points.
The ICC tweeted after India won the 3–1 Test series against England, “A win against England means that India end the league stage of the ICC World Test Championship with a fine view from the top of the table. . “
After reaching the final, India’s off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin said that the best three would have been good players in the final, but the senior bowler assured that Shikhar would give his best shot at the summit.
