Woman seeks compensation for death in son’s custody

The mother of a 17-year-old boy who died after custodial torture at the hands of the SS Colony police in 2019, on Thursday demanded a fair compensation from the state to the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. The petitioner stated that the state had an obligation to pay fair compensation for the misconduct of its servants.

The investigation into the custodial death case was transferred by the High Court to CB-CID.

He said four policemen were named in the final report filed by the CB-CID – Inspector Alexraj, Special Sub-Inspector Ravichandran, Head Constable Ravichandran and Grade I Police Constable Satyeshkumar. He said that the police beat up his son, which led to his death.
