WhatsApp Multi Device Feature: WhatsApp multi-device support feature starts rolling out – morningtidings

WhatsApp has come a long way since it was launched in 2009. It has evolved from being a simple instant messaging platform to being a one-stop solution for varying needs such as video calls, sharing location, QR code support and more.
This year, the most awaited feature of WhatsApp that has been said to be in the works for a while now, is multi-device support and it has now started rolling out to a limited number of testers.
WhatsApp has now announced that the feature is now live as an opt-in beta program.
What is WhatsApp multi-device support feature
According to the company, the multi-device feature on WhatsApp will allow you to use your phone and up to four other non-phone devices simultaneously — even if your phone battery is dead.
This means that you’ll be able to use linked companion devices without the need to keep your phone connected.
How will WhatsApp multi-device support feature work
Each companion device will be connected to your WhatsApp independently.
In order to link devices to your account you will be required to link new companion devices by scanning a QR code from your phone.
“This process now requires biometric authentication before linking where people have enabled this feature on compatible devices,” said the company.
How do you try the WhatsApp multi-device support feature
According to the company, currently, it is being tested with a small group of users from its existing beta program.
Therefore, multi-device beta is currently available to eligible:

  • WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business app beta users who are using the latest version of WhatsApp beta on Android and iPhone
  • WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business app users in limited countries.

“We will continue optimising performance and adding a few additional features before slowly rolling it out more broadly,” it added.
