The Election Commission sought a report from the Chief Secretary and Special Observers of West Bengal.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered an injury to her leg during the election campaign in Nandigram on Wednesday. Ms Banerjee alleged that as she was greeting people, four to five people surrounded her and pushed her.
Ms. Banerjee told reporters, “There were no local police personnel. Not even the Superintendent of Police. There is a lot of swelling. I am in pain and have to go back to Kolkata.” Asked if there was any conspiracy, Ms. Banerjee said, “This is a conspiracy. They did this purposefully,” she said.
The Chief Minister is returning to Kolkata by road from Nandigram which is about 130 km from Kolkata. She was scheduled to return to Kolkata on Thursday morning.
Election commission asked for report
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has sought a report on the incident from West Bengal Chief Secretary and Special Observers. The report will be presented by 5 pm on March 12, an Election Commission official said in New Delhi.
According to reports, Ms. Banerjee suffered injuries to her left leg. She was returning from a religious function in Ranichak area of Nandigram when the incident took place. Ms. Banerjee has been living in Nandigram for the last two days. Earlier in the day, Ms. Banerjee filed nomination papers at Haldia sub divisional office to contest from Nandigram. The Trinamool Congress leadership condemned the development and called it “the most unfortunate”.
Trinamool Congress MP Sukku Sekhar Ray said, “After widespread response from the people of Nandigram Block-1 yesterday, Ms. Mamta Banerjee visited several places in Nandigram Block II after filing nominations in Haldia. She went one by one. Worship offered. ” In Nandigram with Ms. Banerjee.
“There was a massive response from people everywhere. Around 6.15 am, when she was about to leave the Birulia zone after worshiping in a temple, some unknown people pushed her into the car and closed the door as a result.” Due to which injuries to his left leg and severe pain in the waist also occurred. “
State’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that the party wishes the Chief Minister to get well soon.
Bhattacharya said, “There should be a high-level inquiry and their allegations should be proved. He is a Z-class defender and it has to be proved why the security personnel were not with him.”
