The prominent leaders of the group of 23 disgruntled leaders (G-23) are not in the list of 30 star campaigners of the Congress for the West Bengal elections released on Friday.
The 30-star campaigners sent by the party to the Election Commission of India did not include top leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Kapil Sibal, Manish Tiwari and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, all of whom participated in a show of strength in Jammu on February 27. Attend a public meeting.
However, last week, Mr. Azad made a derogatory remark, saying that he and his colleagues were eager to campaign for the party. “For the next two months, our priority will be to try and work for the Congress victory in the elections,” he said.
Earlier this week, Mr Sharma called his senior aide when he said there were “no two groups” in the party.

Top names in the list include party chief Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. .
Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states including Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan), Captain Amarinder Singh (Punjab) and Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh) will also campaign.
While seniors like Kamal Nath, Salman Khurshid and BK Hariprasad are included, Sachin Pilot, Randeep Surjewala, RP N Singh and Jayveer Shergill are among the young leaders in this list.
Former cricketers Navjot Singh Sidhu and Mohammad Azharuddin are both part of this list.
G-23 or those who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi in August last year include Jitin Prasad and Akhilesh Prasad Singh.
Mr. Prasad distanced himself from the disgruntled group last year.
