Originally written by David Barrett, the song was first used for the 1987 NCAA tournament, with the song’s predecessor, the legendary Wondros. In the past, Ne-Yo, Teddy Pendgrass and Jennifer Hudson have also performed the song.
The music for Boiler couldn’t have been sweeter: After years of futility in the NCAA Tournament, Byers made his first Final Four since 1950, winning his first national championship in men’s basketball in school history.
The Lady Bears are three-time women’s tourism champs, most recently won in 2019.
