Thus far, star Indian boxer Vijender Singh will be seen on Friday in ‘Battle on Ship’, playing alongside long-time Russian rival Artish Lopson to raise his impeccable record. The 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medalist did not miss a bout after making a professional comeback, which had a 12–0 record, including eight knock outs. The ‘Majestic Pride Casino Ship’ will arrive on Friday, with the 35-year-old entering the ring after a long time. His last match was against former Commonwealth Champion Charles Adamu of Ghana in November 2019.

Vijender is expected to face stiff challenge from the 26-year-old Russian who has a good record as a professional boxer.

In his six encounters as a professional boxer, the 6-foot-4-inch Lopson has won four, including two knock outs, and recorded one defeat and one draw. Both boxers are training in the marquee event before the coastal event.

Vijender had a wonderful session with friend-cum-coach Jai Bhagwan at the Salvador-do-Mundo boxing hall on Wednesday.

Vijender is surprised that he is against a very long opponent.

Promoted

“He is tall and I will take it slow initially but still I am convinced to beat him. Height is not everything and in boxing, you need strength and strategy. I have experience under my belt. Hai and Lopson are still a child. Vijender recently said that my defeat will continue after March 19. The harder the opponent, the more fun it will be to defeat him.

The competition will be streamed live on ‘Book My Show’ and FanCode.
