Director General (DGP) d. Gautam Sawang said that introduction of innovative applications, use of technology and integration of core departments have helped Andhra Pradesh Police to achieve the top position in the country.
AP Police received 125 awards including some national awards in just 14 months and became a role model for personnel from other states.
“Using the technology, we have traced 11,440 missing persons, wanted to identify 980 criminals and the bodies of 38 people, besides steps of 8.3 lakh criminals,” the DGP said in a release on Sunday.
For the first time in the country, the Sate Police has completed investigations in 85% of the cases and raised the conviction rate, he said.
The response was overwhelming for AP Police Service App, Disha Mobile App, Cyber Mitra App and other applications. The AP Police Service app, which has 87 features, is the first of its kind in the world. Around 13 lakh women downloaded the DISA app and 1,551 chargesheets have been filed in the DISA police stations in just one year.
Through Cyber Mitra, 3,082 complaints have been received, of which 395 cases have been registered. The DGP said that thirty-seven percent of the cases registered by the cyber crime police were from this app.
