An unnamed Indian female shuttler was forced to withdraw from the Orleans Masters on Tuesday after being tested positive for COVID-19 by a team member and identified as a close contact. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) said in a statement that a total of three players have been dropped from the event starting from the qualifiers in Paris. “The Indonesian women’s doubles pair have been withdrawn after a player tested positive for a PCR test conducted on Monday,” the BWF said.

“An Indian female singles player has been withdrawn after a positive test of a team member for mandatory PCR test. The single player was identified as a close contact with the entry member and as a result the player was removed from the tournament, “Added.

The fired players have been asked to self-segregate in their hotel rooms.

However the BWF did not reveal the identity of the players.

For India, Ira Sharma, the next player in the reserve list, has been promoted to the women’s singles main draw.
