Union Territory registered 31 new cases

The Union Territory on Saturday recorded 31 new novel coronavirus viruses, screening 1,199 people for infection.

Out of the total new admissions, 23 are in Puducherry region, 5 in Mahe and the remaining 3 in Karikal.

According to data released by the Health Department, 26 patients were cured of the virus between Friday morning and Saturday morning.

Currently, 87 are under treatment in government hospitals and 104 under domestic isolation. The case fatality rate is now 1.67% and the recovery rate is 97.85%.

The health department said that 24,487 people received COVID-19 vaccination in the union territory till Friday.

Of the total vaccinators, 12,367 are health workers, 7,847 are members of the public and 4,273 are frontline workers.

The doctors said that the vaccination program had received good response from the public.

He said that 823 people got jobs in the union territory on Friday.
