At UFC 260, Stepp Miosic defended his UFC heavyweight title in a rematch against the towering Francis Ngannu at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. It will be a comeback bout between the man widely recognized as the greatest heavyweight in UFC history with a familiar foe who only needs a punch to change the course of the division.
A lot has changed since last meeting in January 2018. Miocic has faced only one opponent in Daniel Cormier – Miocic bounced back after being knocked out to regain his title with his own knockout in the rematch, and then a unanimous standout for Cormier’s retirement. Wins the decision to send in.
For Ngannou, he had a complete existence in MMA, with a gun-shy performance after the Miosic loss in question that he left a decision to Derrick Lewis. As stated by the odds, the idea of a fighter winning by submission is absurd. To the disbelief of many, it is Ngannu who actually has a submission, while Miocic has never won a fight by presenting in his MMA career. Both of them can be disregarded. However, there are two scenarios that are more likely, and that is the decision by N (T) KO and Miocic.
If the first battle is used as a template, Miokic can implement the same strategy and dare Ngannou to stop him. The champion used his attacks to set up takedowns in an effort to increase Nagnou’s energy. The strategy worked as it frustrated and the Predator was unable to land with his immense power to score the knockout. Since then, Ngannou hasn’t spent much time in the Octagon to show that he can get past the first round. His decision, given to Derrick Lewis, caused a loss to a fighter who was unwilling to exchange. He shook that battle and defeated his next four opponents in one round. Does that mean he learned anything that would benefit him in the rematch? There is really only one way to win for Nganou, and that is the knockout. He has 25 minutes to pull it off.
