UEFA announced on Wednesday that it had abolished its 30 percent audience limit at stadiums, possibly allowing host countries to choose their own sanctions at the continent’s comprehensive European Championships this summer. The measure has been taken since last year in response to the coronovirus epidemic but travel supporters are still barred from participating.

“Such a cap is no longer required and … decisions on the number of spectators allowed must fall under the special responsibility of the relevant competent local / national authorities,” the governing body of European football said.

“In view of the ongoing travel restrictions and to implement appropriate and responsible policies to mitigate Kovid-19 related risks, the Executive Committee decided to ratify the Insurer’s decision of 1 October 2020 that the visiting fans should contest the UEFA. It is not allowed to participate in matches.

He said, “This is valid until before the club competition finals to be held in May 2021.”

Earlier this month UEFA told AFP that it wanted supporters in all the games played in 12 different countries from 11 June to 11 July.

The tournament has been postponed from last year due to Kovid-19.

On 17 March, a body said that if a city proposes a ‘fans’ landscape’ matches could be “closed” in cities “capable of welcoming supporters”.

Host cities have until 7 April to explain to UEFA what their scenarios are, with reference to further attendance at an executive committee meeting on 19 April on the eve of the federation’s annual conference in Montreux, Switzerland.

The multi-location format, while complex, gives organizers the flexibility to deal with issues arising from epidemics.

UEFA health adviser Daniel Koch told AFP at the beginning of the month, “If we can’t do anything in one country now, there are still 11 others where preparations are already continuing.”
